Help make a difference by becoming a member of GEC!

The Guild for Exceptional Children, Inc. is a not-for-profit organization providing services to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities of all ages and their families. By becoming a member, you’ll be able to attend membership meetings and have voting rights regarding GEC’s advocacy work, programs, and services.

How to Apply

An application for membership must be made in writing to the membership committee of the GEC Board of Directors. Once reviewed, both the committee and board will determine if the applicant is a fit for membership.

In order to be a voting member, an applicant must be one of the following:

  • A parent of a person receiving our services
  • An adult sibling of a person receiving our services
  • The court-appointed legal guardian of a person receiving our services
  • A person who is interested in the welfare of people receiving our services

The applicant must subscribe to the principles, ideals, and purposes of GEC.

Membership Duties

By the close of the September membership meeting, a voting member must have paid GEC’s annual dues in the amount set by the board (currently $50.00 per year). A voting member should participate in all membership meetings and may be appointed to serve as a voting member on committees.
